My name is Elizabeth Catalano and I am very excited for the upcoming 2020/21 school year!  This will be my 6th year as the Librarian at Arlington Elementary.  While I was completing my Bachelor's degree with a teaching certificate,  I worked in a public library for 19 years as the Children and Youth Librarian.  Now, I am excited to be part of the Arlington Elementary team.

 

As the school year progresses, your child will visit the library once a week to check out books and receive mini lessons on many subjects using various types of multi-media. My most important goal is to instill the love of reading to your child. Throughout the year, they will read and quiz on books according to their reading level so they can make their Accelerated Reading (AR) goal. With your help, reading with your child for at least 15 to 30 minutes each night will help your child's mind grow; as well broadened their knowledge and vocabulary. Please encourage them to read each book at least 3 times and ask questions about the story so they will be prepared and ready to take their quiz in class.

 

My philosophy is that if you can learn to read, you can go places beyond your imagination. Thank you for allowing me to teach your child the importance of reading and I am looking forward to a wonderful year.
